Barbara Huttner Teacher Training and Certification Program
Barbara Huttner has trained under many of the second generation Pilates masters,
and is a Master Teacher herself (see teacher bios for more information). She
has developed an innovative system based on the traditional Pilates method
and enhanced by her extensive experience (see our program, philosophy and
goals). The beginning training covers the reformer, trapeze table, chair and
spine corrector (half-barrel), as well as Barbara's unique mat routine. The
intermediate/advanced training covers the reformer, cadillac, chair and high
barrel. Training includes anatomy lessons, observation, practice teaching
and learning to feel the moves in your own body.
Rael Isacowitz' BASIC Training Program
We are proud to be a host studio for Rael Isacowitz' renowned Body Arts and
Sciences International Certification (BASIC). BASIC is the product of over
twenty years of practice and study by founder, Real Isacowitz, MA. This program
caters for the serious professional seeking a thorough education in the Pilates
method and the science of human movement and conditioning. This integration
of the art and science of human movement is a unique and contemporary approach
to the work of Joseph Pilates and offers a college level learning experience,
which is both stimulating and proactive. The course provides a fundamental
understanding of applied anatomy, physiology and the theory of movement and
offers a comprehensive curriculum in the appropriate and correct application
of the complete Pilates repertoire. It then progresses to teach the many BASIC
original developments of the work to accommodate for different populations
and situations. Most importantly the student completes this program with not
only clear knowledge of this extensive technique but with a deep understanding
of how to apply the method in a way that will result in a positive outcome.
For more information, please see the BASI website www.BASIPilates.com.
Jeanie Manchester "The Art of Teaching"
We are thrilled to offer yoga teacher training this winter by Jeanie Manchester
of Boulder's eminent the Yoga Workshop. Jeannie has studied under Richard
Freeman for more than 12 years, and has rounded out her study by working extensively
with John Friend. The course will explore asana, pranayama, meditation and
chanting. We will study how energy patterns flow in the body when we are in
alignment. We will also explore our own patterns of misalignment and develop
appropriate individual therapeutic loops to work on. We will learn hands-on
adjustments and finally we will explore the art of teaching: what it means
to be a good yoga teacher.
